Malware update

So…

The situation is not resolved.  I’ve gotten more reports of evil popups and stuff like that.

I’m trying to figure out what’s gone wrong and Gabe is too.

I’m really sorry about this.  If the situation continues to be unresolved I’ll have to think about taking the site down or something but for now I’m going to leave it up.  I guess that’s not the best policy since I am maybe spreading badness on the internet, but I really don’t want to take the site down.

If you’ve experienced problems, let me know.  If you have solutions, let me know.

  • Have you figured out what the bad software is, so that we could at least specifically look for it on our systems?

    Is there a chance that it actually comes from one of your affiliate networks?  (Though I would expect Project Wonderful problems to show up elsewhere as well…)  Maybe something cached for too long somewhere?

  • I’m running Chrome on Win 7. ESET Smart Security hasn’t picked anything up, I use your feeds as well as the site and nothing has been brought up by the scanner.

  • I’m sick of those stupid update prompts that interrupt and blink every time I turn on the computer.  They all have the option “Install Now” or “Remind me later” options on the popups.  Where’s the “Remind me never” option?  I get these from my Windows Vista, AOL, and Java.
